The Chambourcin grape was released in France in 1963 by Joannes Seyve. Many wineries in the eastern U.S. grow this grape. We are one of them! There are about 600 vines in our vineyard which yielded four ton in 2014. It is used in some of our red blends and in great years it is released as a varietal to shine on its own. I like the grape because of what I call its “wine qualities.” It is a robust, fleshy, food-friendly red with full mouth appeal and spicy finish. The 2013 vintage is available now!
